Introduction
Welcome to the website of Bureau Wbtv (Bureau for Sworn Interpreters and Translators),
a department of the Raad voor Rechtsbijstand (Dutch Legal Aid Council) that has been entrusted by the Ministry of Justice with various implementation tasks in respect of the Wet beëdigde tolken en vertalers (Sworn Interpreters and Translators Act).
Bureau Wbtv manages, for instance, the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (the “Register”).
Only interpreters and translators who are registered in the Register are sworn interpreters and translators.
Registration in the Register is subject to certain quality and integrity conditions.
An interpreter or a translator who does not meet these conditions may qualify for inclusion on the Alternative List.
The conditions for inclusion on the Alternative List are easier to meet than those for registration in the Register.
The Register and the Alternative List are public and can be consulted by interested parties elsewhere on this website.
More information on the Register, the Alternative List, the registration conditions and numerous other subjects can be found via the menu on the left of this page.
